KZLK is a Cairo-based artist who witnessed the whole journey of mahraganat ever since it was a traditional folk way of celebrating in weddings, with all its traditions and elements. In 2019 KZLK released a new album under the name Lstefa(meaning: archives).
He says: “Before this scene became trendy and before the sounds became this clean and in a good quality that makes it sellable, El Mouled (the origin of mahraganat) was and still is a huge part of Egyptian culture. It’s the only event that attracted Egyptians to the streets to enjoy their time away from tickets and spending money.”
He recently performed at Borealis Festival 2020, at the Kunsathalle in Bergen: Utmark X Borealis: KZLK + BLÓM + MC Yallah & Debmaster
